Common questions
Why a directory instead of a referral service?
FL Bar Rule 4-7.17 prohibits per-lead fees and recommendation/referral compensation paid by attorneys to non-lawyer marketing services. To stay clearly inside the rule we run a paid directory: listed attorneys pay a flat annual fee to appear; we never receive a per-lead payment, and we never rank by who paid. Listing order is by relevance to the filters you select. How are listed attorneys verified?
Before a listing goes live, we check the attorney's bar number against the Florida Bar member directory, confirm 'eligible to practice' status, and review any public disciplinary history. Suspended, disbarred, or 'ineligible' attorneys never appear in the directory. Re-verification runs annually at renewal. What practice areas are covered?
Collections, covenant enforcement, transitional and turnover litigation, fair housing, construction defect, contract review, general litigation, and transactional. Most listed attorneys cover a subset rather than all of these. Filter accordingly. Can I leave a review of an attorney?
Not in this directory. Reviews of legal services are tightly regulated under FL Bar advertising rules; we don't host them here to avoid putting listed attorneys at compliance risk. The board-side review surface on commonelements.com covers vendor services (management, insurance, contractors) only.I'm an attorney. How do I get listed?
Email hello@commonelements.com. The first cohort gets verified-listing badge placement and a discounted annual rate. You'll provide bar number, practice areas, counties served, firm details, and a short bio. Listing goes live after we verify bar status and confirm the disclosure language complies with FL Bar 4-7.17.
